Journeyperson Powerline Technician

Canadian Process Services Inc. (CPSI) is currently seeking qualified Journeyperson Powerline Technicians to work on an upcoming project in an existing terminal station in Wabush, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Work Scope:

• Location: Wabush, Newfoundland and Labrador
• Start Date: June 2023
• Duration: Approximately 4 months (contract position)
• Rotation: 3 weeks on, 1 week off as required
• Travel and accommodations included.

Responsibilities:

• Modify existing steel support structures
• Install and connect new equipment as required
• Install electrical distribution and transmission systems within substation boundaries
• Erect substation structures and install HV equipment
• Splice and insulate conductors and wiring
• Inspect and test power lines, cables, and related equipment
• Adhere to safety practices and procedures
• Journeypersons will be responsible for mentoring apprentices and demonstrating safety leadership

Qualifications and Experience

• Red Seal Interprovincial Journeyperson Certification required
• Valid copies of relevant certifications, including Powerline Hazards, Aerial Work Platform, and Fall Arrest
• Substation construction/maintenance experience is required
• Previous troubleshooting experience would be an asset
• A dedicated commitment to safety is essential
• Experience interpreting blueprints
• Ability to work at heights
• Knowledge of writing technical maintenance reports would be considered an asset
