About Us
The Calgary Powerchair Hockey League (CPHL) is a community-based adaptive sports league providing inclusive and competitive hockey opportunities for individuals with physical disabilities. We run a house league with 4 teams and over 35 athletes. Our games are fast-paced, exciting, and rewarding for both players and volunteers.
We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable referees to officiate CPHL games. Referees play an important role in ensuring fair play, safety, and an enjoyable experience for athletes, families, and fans. Games are played on a gym floor.
Responsibilities
Officiate scheduled CPHL games (Saturdays at 1:30-3:30 PM and 3:30-5:30 PM, Vivo Centre in Calgary).
Enforce league rules and maintain safe, fair, and respectful play.
Communicate effectively with players, coaches, and scorekeepers.
Collaborate with league staff and volunteers to create a positive game-day environment.
Demonstrate professionalism, impartiality, and good judgment at all times.
Qualifications
Previous refereeing experience (hockey, wheelchair sports, or other adaptive sports) is an asset but not required.
Strong communication and decision-making skills.
Reliability and punctuality.
Comfortable working in an adaptive sport environment (training provided).
Must be available most Saturdays during the season (flexible scheduling available).
What We Offer
$32.50 per hour, approximately $65 per game.
Flexible scheduling, work one or both games each week.
Training and mentorship in adaptive sports officiating.
