Power Study Electrical Engineer

Summary of responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Manager of the Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering Department, the Power Study Electrical Engineer will play a key role in the design and development of both local and international mining projects. More specifically, the incumbent will be called upon to:


Conduct protection and coordination studies for high and medium voltage systems, including arc-flash hazard analyses, ensuring compliance to the local safety standards. Develop and prepare detailed engineering documentation for power generation, transmission, and distribution systems, with a focus on high and medium voltage networks. Design single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, and control diagrams for electrical networks, supported by comprehensive calculation notes and reports. Collaborate in the preparation of detailed layout plans and schematics for electrical substations.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent. Minimum five (5) years of experience in a similar role, including the completion of power studies. Good understanding of harmonic currents. Experience in the mining sector and/or international projects are important assets. Be a member in good standing of the Ordre des Ingenieurs du Quebec(O.I.Q.) or of another Canadian provincial engineering association, or be eligible for membership. Be able to communicate in French and English. Have a good knowledge of ETAP and CYME software series. Comfortable with medium and high voltage. Proficient with the Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Strong analytical, synthesis and problem-solving skills. Good communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural team. Organizational skills and adaptability to a constantly evolving environment. Autonomy and initiative. Thoroughness and attention to details.

Additional information

The position will be based at the G Mining Services office in Brossard and/or working from home. Possibility of working in hybrid mode (office and remote work) Possibility of travelling abroad and in Canada depending on the availability of the candidate.
