Responsible for providing quality workmanship, consistent service, and technical knowledge to the customers.
Performs all tasks related to the testing, diagnosing, repair, maintenance, and reconditioning of Power Generation units (gasoline, diesel, and natural gas) engine components typically on-site at customer location or in the shop.
The Role
Where required tests, measures, and verifies electrical component operations, conducts building transfer tests to confirm correct operation of transfer switches, breakers, and generator
Inspect and diagnose components and generator sets
Perform emergency service, preventative maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and instruction for customer generators as efficiently as possible
Communicate with generator owners for authorization of servicing and repairs as required.
Service and repair generators in the shop and on-site for the
Recondition and re-manufacture components as required for controllers and engines repairs.
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with customers and peers.
Communicate equipment servicing needs as required with Supervisor/Manager.
Communicate work performed and complete service
Program, test, and trouble shoot generator sets and synchronizing control system
Conduct startups and load bank tests as required
Able to work with A/C & D/C systems
Preform monthly, semi-annual, annual, load testing as per CSA-282-15
Work with medium & low voltage and read single line drawings.
Update and maintain service records
Fill out warranty information
Participate in manufacturers' and in house service Training may occur during work and/or after work hours.
Participate in all required Health & Safety
Comply with the Health & Safety program and performance of daily duties in a manner conducive to a safe

The Candidate
Education: Trade certification, Journeyman Red Seal and/or the Heavy-Duty Mechanics Provincial Apprenticeship program, Power Generation Experience/Heavy Equipment Technician
Work Experience: Minimum 4 years' experience as a generator service technician
Knowledge: Proficient written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to work with customers, exceptional customer service; demonstrated mechanical aptitude, analysis and problem solving skills
Other requirements: A valid Alberta driver's license in good standing, Comfortable using MS Office suite including Outlook suite, ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision. On call rotation, willing to work in Calgary and throughout Alberta. A valid passport and ability to travel to the US for factory training.
