INEOS Calabrian is seeking a Relief Process Operator for our Timmins site. As a key member of the INEOS Calabrian team, the Process Operator is accountable to meet the company's production goals and participating in the day-to-day operation of the plant. The Process Operator reports directly to the Shift Engineer and the Chief Operating Engineer and is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the plant, working a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.
Basic Duties
Responsible for the Safe and Efficient operation of the operating unit
Take and record process data (pressure, temperature, flow rates, etc.) in order to monitor and evaluate process status.
Read, interpret, and follow oral and written instructions such as operations' guidelines, plant orders, standard operating conditions, and operating procedures in order to properly operate the unit.
Follow all prescribed safety and environmental practices in order to prevent injuries, prevent incidents, and ensure compliance with all environmental regulations.
Select and wear proper personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel toed shoes, fall protection equipment, acid suit, respiratory equipment, etc.) in order to prevent personal injury.
Operate process equipment using varied process controls such as manual, pneumatic, PLC and DCS systems in order to keep the process operating under normal conditions.
Connect process and utility hoses with or without tools as appropriate while wearing the necessary personal protective equipment in order to maintain the correct flow of the process.
Handle, change out and pack both hazardous and non-hazardous materials wearing personal protective equipment in order to manage inventories without exposure or release to the environment.
Perform chemical equipment breaks and vessel entries following site safety procedures and wearing personal protective equipment in order to do maintenance and safety inspections on equipment.
Collect and analyze process samples using lab methods and equipment for process control in order to verify product quality.
Operate mobile equipment such as forklift.
Keep work area clean and orderly in order to prevent safety hazards
Fill and ship Railcars and tank trucks
Unload raw material
Railcar receiving and switching
Troubleshoot and report process or equipment problems to supervisor
Implements effective troubleshooting and repair practices, and preventive and corrective maintenances for plant.
Troubleshoots problems with control systems, storage facilities and pump stations.
Repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments: Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
Responsible for inspection and operation of pumps, tanks, and piping components.
Makes visual checks of Tanks, meters, gauges, and pump equipment.
Complies with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations. (Take 5, STOP cards, 6S, etc.)
Required to complete and verify all prescribed documentation
Assures all "Standard Operating Procedures" ensuring all SOP's are accurate while considering safety aspects involved and write new SOP's as necessary.
Must comply with the Process Safety Management System.
Participate in conducting "Root Cause Analysis" of equipment failures and in implementing changes to reduce them.
Assist with resolving reliability issues, including regular participation on teams.
Other duties as may be required.
Follow and practice the INEOS 20 Principles of Process and Behavioral Safety as well as INEOS Group Life Saving Rules
Requirements
3rd Class Stationary Engineer. May accept a 4th Class ticket.
Maintenance experience would be an asset
Requires 3+ years' experience in industrial plant environment and knowledge of chemical process safety, equipment, and personal protection.
Position is subject to 24-hour call out
Proven communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain accurate written records and documentation
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Strongly prefer experience relevant to closed processes, and related industry such as chemical manufacturing, mining, water treatment, etc.
Ability to move or carry loads up to 50lbs
