Your Opportunity:
Monitors and regulates the operation of boilers, and allied systems related to the production and distribution of heat, air, water and power; monitors, reads and logs readings on gauges and meters; tests, monitors and takes corrective action for fire, gas storage, pressure, temperature, power and environmental system alarms; starts, operates and shuts down boilers, chillers, emergency generators. Samples, analyzes and adds or adjusts water treatment chemicals and water levels (()); modifies and adjusts building environmental systems. Communication with Power Plant Coordinator as to the ongoing status of plant operations and any operational changes required (i.e. Boilers to be put on or offline, chiller & cooling tower changes, etc.). Maintains and assist in operational logs, records, statistics and manuals pertinent to plant operation; requisitions or orders equipment and supplies, prepares required reports. Assists Chief Engineer and Maintenance personnel with equipment isolation and repair as required. May perform a variety of building maintenance duties. Performs other related duties as required. Identifies courses and materials necessary to keep abreast of current technology. Uses e-Facilities to enter work performed, time required, and job completion information.
Description:
As a Power Engineer 4th Class, you will be responsible for assisting with monitoring, repairs and maintenance of plant operations in accordance with AHS and Alberta Boiler Safety Association (ABSA) standards and practices. You will schedule and check building/power plant equipment systems on a pre-established schedule. In addition, you will operate and maintain the plant in a safe and efficient manner according to ABSA regulations.
