Postdoctoral Research Fellow
to join our multidisciplinary team at the
University Health Network (UHN)
.
Our lab focuses on developing and applying cutting-edge
artificial intelligence (AI)
and
computer vision
methods to advance cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and precision medicine through computational pathology.
About the Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in developing novel AI models for
digital pathology
, focusing on histopathology image analysis, tumor microenvironment characterization, biomarker discovery, and prediction of treatment response and outcomes. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment that bridges computational research and clinical application, alongside pathologists, oncologists, and data scientists.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and validate deep learning and computer vision algorithms for whole-slide image analysis.
Design and conduct experiments for cancer diagnosis, grading, and prognosis using large-scale pathology datasets.
Collaborate with clinical and research teams to integrate AI tools into translational and clinical workflows.
Publish high-impact research and present findings at leading conferences and journals.
Mentor junior trainees and contribute to collaborative grant proposals.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in
Computer Science
,
Electrical/Computer Engineering
,
Biomedical Engineering
, or a related field.
Strong background in
computer vision
,
deep learning
, and
image analysis
.
Proven publication record in top-tier AI, medical imaging, or computational pathology venues (e.g., CVPR, MICCAI, NeurIPS, Nature Medicine, etc.).
Proficiency in
Python
and deep learning frameworks such as
PyTorch
or
TensorFlow
.
Experience with digital pathology or medical imaging data is an asset.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
