The Faculty of Business and IT at Ontario Tech University has an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) to join the research team at the Research Excellence Chair in Marketing Analytics and Decision Models. The successful candidate will work independently under the direct supervision of Dr. Salma Karray. The post-doctoral fellowship will have the opportunity to analyze large datasets in marketing. The position is offered for one year at a salary of $50,000 per year, with possibility of renewal.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary research team to develop research hypotheses, design data collection strategies, and interpret study results.
  • Conduct machine learning and statistical analyses of large marketing datasets (e.g., social media data) to analyze and predict customer reviews and engagement to social media campaigns and other marketing strategies.
  • Coordinate research meetings and mentor graduate students.
  • Engage in knowledge translation activities.
  • Write academic papers and present for peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of grant proposals.

Required Education:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Management Science, or a related field with a quantitative focus.

Required Experience:

  • Demonstrated outstanding research background in Data Analytics or other related fields.
  • Familiarity with Advertising research.
  • Proficiency in using Machine Learning techniques.
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language (Python or R).
  • Ability to independently pursue work and collaborate with others to analyze complex issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Experience in manuscript preparation, publications, and grant proposals.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, responsible, and team-oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and PSAC.
