for a Part-Time

Postgraduate Internship

(20 hours/week) focused on the intersection of exercise science and rehabilitation. This 1-year opportunity is ideal for recent graduates passionate about working with both

healthy individuals and populations living with chronic conditions (R & R Cancer Rehabilitation, UR Gold, and Enrich Neurorehabiltation programming)

. Interns will contribute to community programs that promote movement, health, and wellbeing through evidence-informed approaches. Additional hours will be required for seminar attendance, reading, etc. related to theoretical/practical learning component. Professional presentations will also be part of the year long curriculum.



Key Responsibilities


Assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of research and community-based projects in exercise science and rehabilitation Work with both healthy and clinical populations to support physical activity programs Conduct aerobic and musculoskeletal assessments and analyze data Contribute to the development of educational materials, workshops, and health initiatives for students and community members

Position Requirements

Qualifications

Completion of a degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Public Health, Rehabilitation Sciences, or a related field Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) required, Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) preferred Valid First Aid and CPR-C certification Candidate will be required to obtain CEP Certification by January 1, 2025 Strong interest in exercise programming and rehabilitation for diverse populations Knowledge of chronic disease management and therapeutic exercise principles is an asset Excellent communication, collaboration, and time management skills Experience with research tools and software (e.g., Word, Excel, Simple Set) preferred Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team





Additional Information:


Students must register as Non-Credit students in KHSR 001, 002, or 003 each semester in which they are employed. These positions are designed to enhance students' application of knowledge through hands-on experiences and purposeful critical analysis. These workplace activities will increase in level of difficulty throughout the work term. Internship will include participation in a regularly scheduled seminar as well as a term project and presentation. This position is a

stipend-based position

for 20 hours per week with potential for

growth and future extensions

based on performance.
