Job Description

Established in 2016, the Canadian-Led Immunotherapies in Cancer (CLIC) program unites researchers, clinicians, and patient partners from across Canada to advance innovation and build national capacity in the rapidly evolving field of cellular immunotherapy, including CAR-T cell therapy.

We are currently seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to support the health services research component of the CLIC program under the supervision of Dr. Kednapa Thavorn and Dr. Natasha Kekre. This one-year fellowship (with the possibility of renewal) offers an exceptional opportunity to gain applied experience in health economics and outcomes research, with a specific focus on cell and gene therapies.

Analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative data using appropriate statistical methods and software. Prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentation at conferences, scientific meetings, seminars, workshops, and community engagement. Contribute to the preparation of progress reports, internal updates, and grant-related deliverables. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to refine research questions, study designs, and analytical approaches. Support the development of grant applications and funding proposals to advance research activities. Work with clinical teams and partner institutions to facilitate data collection and access to relevant clinical and administrative datasets. Mentor and provide support to undergraduate and graduate students engaged in related research projects. Stay current with emerging research and innovations in health services, health economics, and cellular therapies, and integrate relevant insights into project work. Maintain accurate and organized documentation of protocols, data, analyses, and results, in accordance with ethical standards and data governance policies.

Basic Requirements (Education/Experience):

A PhD completed within the last five years in a relevant discipline, such as health economics, health technology assessment, epidemiology, health services research, economics, or operations research. Strong academic and research background in health economic evaluation, with the topic as a major focus of the doctoral thesis. Proven experience in research design, data collection, statistical analysis, and scientific writing. Proficiency with statistical and data analysis software (e.g., R, Python, Excel), as well as data management tools. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex datasets. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience presenting research findings to both academic and non-academic audiences. Knowledge of ethical standards and regulatory requirements related to health research.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working on economic evaluations and decision analytic modelling. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. Experience managing multiple priorities and adapting to evolving project needs in a research environment.

Skills and Abilities:

Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong ability to take initiative and manage tasks with minimal supervision. Proven ability to follow direction from multiple sources, effectively prioritize workload, and maintain attention to detail. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
