We are presently recruiting for a Portfolio Manager in Trading Analytics within the Trading group in the Total Fund Management (TFM) department based in Toronto. Trading is responsible for the execution of all transactions in public market securities for the Fund (excluding credit). Trading Analytics is embedded within Trading, working closely with traders as well as investment groups and technology and data to constantly improve execution and contribute to projects across the fund.

The primary responsibility of this role will be to lead the analytics team in its mandate to benchmark trading and perform execution research to inform trading decisions. The individual will report to the Head of Trading for the Americas and will collaborate with the rest of the Trading team to deliver the group's broader objectives.

Role Specific Accountabilities:

• Complete the roll out of execution benchmarking across all asset classes; (Equity, Rates, Futures, FX, Options)
• Determining strategy on future expansion of our trade analytics platform
• Establish an execution research program, modelling costs, back-testing alternative execution strategies and developing signals and analytics to optimize trade path selection and enable data-driven trading
• Keep up to date on industry best practices with respect to TCA and execution research to continually improve our internal platform
• Play an active role in the research and development of analytical tools, trade implementation strategies, as well as adding value to upstream investment decision processes
• Train and mentor junior members of the Trading Analytics team
• Contribute to the development of automation and low-touch trading
• Collaborate closely with the rest of TFM and Technology by bringing insights that are relevant to the broader objectives of the group

Qualifications

If you possess the following, we would like to hear from you:

• University level education, STEM or Finance candidates preferred
• 8-12 years' experience in a related industry
• Experience with data analytics, working with time series and large data sets
• Proven track record of research with a rigorous scientific approach
• Fluent with Python and/or R.
• Strong knowledge of financial products, nuances of their markets and measurement of trading performance
• Excellent interpersonal skills, a track record of working effectively with others and strong leadership skills
