Portfolio Lead, Quality Assurance

Job Description

WCLC is looking to hire a Portfolio Lead, Quality Assurance (QA). The Portfolio Lead QA is responsible for leading and coordinating quality assurance activities within the Application Delivery department. Application Delivery, is part of the IT organization, comprised of Systems Analysts, Developers and Quality Assurance Analysts. This role involves collaborating with other Portfolio Leads, setting delivery approaches, preparing test strategies, and managing resources. The Portfolio Lead QA will also be responsible for creating onboarding documentation, training new QA resources, and ensuring adherence to quality assurance best practices.


Key Responsibilities:





Leadership & Project Coordination (50%)



Set delivery approaches and design for upcoming projects. Prepare test strategies, identify resource skillsets, and manage dependencies with third-party partners. People Leader responsibilities for a Quality Assurance team of 8 members. Provide coaching, guidance, performance and workload management. Create onboarding documentation and training for new QA resources. Document and familiarize individuals on quality assurance best practices, test cases, scripts, test plans, test data, test summary documentation, and metrics. Provide estimates and schedules for projects while balancing other requests. Represent the QA department on project committees and update reporting dashboards and PMO members on progress. Champion and support test automation efforts and demonstrate scrum values to team members. Coordinate activities with other departments and provide updates to management, including escalation of issues, risks, and changes to scope.

Reporting, Tools, and Metrics (25%)



Research, assess, and recommend test management improvements. Keep up with industry best practices, tools, and technology to support the QA role. Create, store, and maintain documentation for onboarding, environment management, and implementation. Create dashboards and metrics for projects on completion rates, defect rates, and management. Work closely with third-party partners to ensure test metrics/documents are provided for implementation and operational readiness. Collaborate on ways to improve processes and work management with vendors and team members.

Communication and Documentation (25%)



Provide templates or examples of documentation best practices. Ensure all QA analysts follow standardized approaches to testing, document repositories, and metrics. Document and update onboarding information for all team members. Provide hands-on training and cross-functional knowledge sharing. Coach and guide team members on operational readiness form processes and post-implementation incident management (CIRT) processes. Act as the communication point during CIRT activities. Review and approve documentation for transition to production environments and operations post-implementation.

Qualification and Competencies




Post-secondary education in Computer science, engineering, or relevant software or business discipline Minimum 4 years of experience in all aspects of Quality Assurance and testing disciplines, an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered Excellent organization skills including management of multiple assignments, setting personal goals and targets and document management Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities while maintaining a focus on attention to detail Strong oral and written communication skills Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment Experience with the web services stack and service transport is considered an asset Working knowledge of a combination of any of the following technologies is considered an asset: JIRA, Zephyrscale, SQL, SOAP, XML, Boomi, Linux/Unix Familiarity working in Agile methodology is an asset

Education and Experience:




Technical/trade school or university diploma in CAP/BIT from RRCC, Business Analyst, Software Testing, or Software Quality Assurance certificates such as ISTQB. 3+ years of relevant experience. 5+ years experience working on IT projects
