Job Purpose:
The ?Pharmacist? is a member of the ?Pharmacy? team, responsible for providing pharmaceutical care, which requires clinical knowledge, skills, and judgment in assessing and resolving the patient's drug-related needs. A Pharmacist plays a critical role in ensuring safe and effective medication use while providing healthcare support to patients. Pharmacists are responsible for dispensing prescription medications, advising on drug interactions, providing immunizations, and offering essential health screenings, assessments, and education when possible. They collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize treatment plans and promote patient well-being. Their expertise ensures that medication regimens align with the best practices in health and safety.

Duties and Key Responsibilities:
Patient Responsibilities
Skilled in reviewing and verifying prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and potential drug interactions.
Advise patients on the safe use of medications, potential side effects, and how to manage conditions effectively.
Provides guidance to patients about medication regimens, disease management, and health screenings, ensuring patients understand their treatment plans.
Administers vaccines such as flu shots, travel vaccinations, and other immunizations, adhering to safety protocols.
Manage insurance claims and resolve coverage and reimbursement issues.
Use Kroll for patient data, prescription tracking, and inventory control.
Ensure regulatory compliance in dispensing and confidentiality.
Address patient concerns and coordinate with healthcare providers
Advise customers on the selection and usage of prescription medication.
Consult patients regarding their current medications and medical conditions to avoid side effects.
Educate patients on possible side effects of their medication and answer any questions they may have.
Maintain medication profiles of patients, including registering narcotics and controlled drugs.
Compound medications, accurately measuring and calculating required ingredients.
Deliver site specific medical services which may vary by location, such as outreach support, travel clinic services, etc.
Pharmacy Responsibilities
Manages day-to-day pharmacy tasks including inventory, supply ordering, and compliance with industry regulations.
Mentors and oversees pharmacy day-to-day, promoting efficient workflow and adherence to protocol.
Order and maintain stock of pharmaceutical supplies and medication.
Ensure pharmaceuticals, including vaccines, are correctly packaged, distributed, prepared, and stored.
Treat the environment as a priority, ensuring all local, provincial, and federal regulations are met or exceeded.
Promote and advocate for a workplace which supports diversity, equity, and inclusion in all business operations.
Maintain high standards with respect to the Environment, Health and Safety of employees, customers, members of the community, and other constituents.
Meet or exceed the requirements outlined in the company's safety program, adopting passion and advocacy for high standards of health and safety.
Other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications / Experiences:
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Degree, or PharmD required.
ACP License to practice in Alberta, or CPBC License to Practice in British Columbia is required.
APA Certification preferred.
Authorization to administer drugs by injection, and/or ISTM certification is considered an asset.
Current First Aid with CPR certification is required. Those without will be required to obtain this certification upon commencement of their employment.
Enhanced Criminal Records Check (some positions may require a vulnerable sector check) is required.
Knowledge of Kroll software systems is an asset.
Ability to adhere to regulatory compliance
Strong organizational and operational oversight skills
Expertise in medication management and patient care
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Proficient in managing pharmacy inventory
