Position Summary
Reporting to the Pool Manager, the Pool Coordinator is a seasonal position that is responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of the Green Grove Pool, acting as the supervisor on duty, providing swimming instruction, lifeguarding, and other administrative duties.
This position oversees the operations and safety aspects of the pool, assists with pool activities and dedicated events, and ensures safety requirements are met through inspection of practices and equipment.
Position Responsibilities
Lifeguarding Duties-20%

  • Provide lifeguard supervision of pool patrons;
  • Provide first aid treatment when required and handle emergency situations with application of professional training;
  • Maintain pool water quality to meet Provincial Health Act requirements;
  • Supervise staff and volunteer and act as shift supervisor as required;
  • Perform and document ongoing mechanical and chemical maintenance;
  • Ensure cleanliness of building and pool areas;
  • Administer cash and perform nightly cash out;
  • Ensure proper financial procedures are followed and accurate records are kept;
  • Ensure good public relations with stakeholders, staff and patrons;
  • Enforce rules and regulations of the facility and follow operational procedures;
  • Maintain a high level of fitness (minimum National Lifeguard Standard swim time);
Pool Operations/Programs-50%
  • Responsible for the promotion, in conjunction with the Recreation Program Coordinator, of pool programs to ensure maximum community reach and utilization;
  • Assist Pool Manager in programming, following the allocated budget parameters as approved by the Parks & Recreation Supervisor;
  • Evaluate aquatic programs for all Yellowhead County residents and visitors;
  • Provide effective communication to schools, recreation groups, organizations, special populations and all other stakeholders;
  • Assist with the distribution of promotional information; newsletters, brochures, and posters through a variety of mediums including but not limited to print, internet and radio;
Lesson Instruction-15%
  • Provide lesson instruction;
  • Maintain records for lessons instructed and programs provided;
  • Provide lesson results to students;
Facility Management-15%
  • Supervise all pool staff and volunteers;
  • Ensure pool facility, mechanical and safety equipment are operating effectively;
  • Ensure proper documentation of operating records and maintenance checklists;
  • Assist with training staff in all aspects of their positions including but not limited to emergency procedures, safety, operating the mechanical equipment, cleaning duties, and monitoring water chemistry;
  • Address and report any maintenance issues that arise throughout the season;
  • Assist Pool Manager with staff scheduling as required; and
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.
Qualification, Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older;
  • Completion of Grade 12 diploma or equivalent;
  • Must hold current certifications for: National Lifeguard, Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, Standard First Aid and AED, CPR Level C required;
  • Lifesaving Instructor Certification considered an asset;
  • AARFP Level I Swimming Pool Operator certification considered an asset;
  • Staff supervision skills and experience considered an asset;
  • Water Safety Instructor Certification considered an asset;
  • Excellent communication and exceptional organization skills; and
  • Excellent computer literacy skills.
Working Environment
  • Work is conducted outdoors with potential exposure to adverse weather;
  • Shift, evening and weekend work is required;
  • Ability to manage multiple demands simultaneously on a regular basis;
  • Physical effort required; and
  • Public contact may be confrontational.
The hourly wage is $28.02 to $30.52. This is a seasonal position. Position dates are approximately April 27, 2026 to August 28, 2026.
This position is based in Niton at the Green Grove Pool, with occasional travel to the Yellowhead County Administrative Office located in Edson required.
IMPORTANT NOTE:Applicants must include a cover letter, resume, 2 written references and driver's abstract to be considered for an interview. Defensive Driving completion is required (5 year validity).
Successful applicants will be required to provide a Police Information Check & Vulnerable Sector with satisfactory results.
