The Co-Op Intern will join the Preformulation Department of the Formulation Research Group in Vancouver, BC, under the supervision of a Formulation Scientist. The internship will provide the opportunity to further develop skills, be exposed to new ideas, and apply classroom training to solve practical drug delivery problems. The position will require the student to work full time (40 hrs/week) on-site at our office in Vancouver, BC.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Enrolment in the Life Sciences/Physical Sciences discipline.
  • Prior research experience or industrial internship is an asset but not required.
  • Background in chemistry or biological sciences is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the safe handling of biological and chemical samples is an asset but not required.
  • Willing to contribute to and work in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to organize work and set appropriate priorities.
  • Desire for a career in the pharmaceutical industry and/or a strong interest in the field of drug development.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and evaluation of drug delivery formulations with the purpose of optimizing the biological activity of anticancer agents.
  • Search scientific literature for relevant articles to identify novel formulation methods and procedures.
  • Document and maintain records of results in accordance with Jazz policy.
  • Maintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies
  • Prepare technical reports, batch records, summaries, and protocols.
  • Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment
Duration
  • September 2023 - April 2024; 8 months. Preferable start date is September 1, 2023
