Reporting into the Head of R&D, we\xe2\x80\x99re seeking an experienced Polymer Processing Technician to join our team. As an ideal candidate, you have proven skills in operating, troubleshooting and maintaining a variety of polymer processing machines and you\xe2\x80\x99re avid in learning the operation of new equipment. The main goal of this role is to support daily R&D and production activities.
Your organizational, communication, and time management skills are second to none and you enjoy developing solutions that push innovative boundaries. In this role, you will be responsible for the following key areas. \xe2\x97\x8f Complying with all safety requirements of the work environment including wearing PPE and following safe machine operation protocols \xe2\x97\x8f Starting up, operating and shu ing down polymer processing equipment such as extruders, injection moulding machines, kneader mixers, etc. \xe2\x97\x8f Creating maintenance charts for new equipment
\xe2\x97\x8f Conducting routine maintenance on equipment, such as cleaning, lubrication, and replacement of worn parts
\xe2\x97\x8f Troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment malfunctions and performing repairs as needed
\xe2\x97\x8f Identifying and/or developing the tools necessary for the troubleshooting and smooth R&D and production processes \xe2\x97\x8f Ensuring that new processes and materials are introduced successfully
\xe2\x97\x8f Recording processing data and reporting to the R&D team members
\xe2\x97\x8f Providing support in writing standard operating procedures
\xe2\x97\x8f Handling raw materials and tracking stocked inventory balances
\xe2\x97\x8f Providing support in maintaining the R&D and production infrastructure
\xe2\x97\x8f Sourcing supplies and consumables as needed
\xe2\x97\x8f Accepting inbound shipments and preparing material for outbound shipment About you
First things first, let\xe2\x80\x99s make sure you check off some of the basics\xe2\x80\xa6 \xe2\x97\x8f College diploma or a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, chemical engineering, materials engineering or manufacturing and technology. \xe2\x97\x8f Minimum of 3 years of experience troubleshooting and operating plastic processing equipment such as extruders, injection moulding machines, kneader mixers, etc. \xe2\x97\x8f Ability to quickly grasp function and operations of new equipment
\xe2\x97\x8f Ability to quickly identify malfunctions and provide solutions
\xe2\x97\x8f Ability to design in-house tools and solutions to problems with a strong mechanical and analytical aptitude
\xe2\x97\x8f Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
\xe2\x97\x8f Strong a ention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
\xe2\x97\x8f Working knowledge of PLCs, PIDs, electrical panels/boards
\xe2\x97\x8f Working knowledge of CAD software programs is a plus
\xe2\x97\x8f Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds
\xe2\x97\x8f Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to noise and dust
\xe2\x97\x8f Detailed planning and time-management skills
\xe2\x97\x8f Great organizational and communication skills, both wri en and oral
