POSITION TITLE: Dietician 
LOCATION: Burnaby, BC 
REPORTS TO: Medical Director

PolyCan Health Centre (https://www.polycanhealthcentre.com/) is a multidisciplinary clinic serving the Burnaby Mountain and surrounding population with services in family health care & walk-in care, women’s health, surgical daycare, plastic surgery, sports medicine, ophthalmology, chiropractic, rehabilitation, acupuncture, pain management, preventative care, and medical diagnostic imaging services. 
 
Job Duties 

Determine appropriate nutrition intervention through physician/health team referral or risk screening for the assigned patient population; assesses the patient/client's current status and determines the goals of medical/nutritional therapy by reviewing charts, interviewing patients or family. 

Evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention through patient/client observation, reviewing biochemical parameters and discussion with the patient or interdisciplinary team; makes care plan adjustments as required. 

Participate in the continuous improvement of clinical practice guidelines for the department 

Participate with the interdisciplinary team in the development of clinical pathways as appropriate; develops nutrition education materials and contributes to other quality initiatives. 
 
Qualifications 

Graduated from a recognized Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition 

Completed a dietetics internship program as approved by the Dietitians of Canada (DOC) 

Current membership in the College of Dietitians of British Columbia 

Skills 

Demonstrated ability to communicate with and deal effectively with, patients/residents, families, staff, physicians, and other health care providers.  

Knowledge of legislation and government policies and procedures related to healthcare.  

Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient/resident care. 

Demonstrated ability to draw out information that will contribute to understanding the patient/resident’s situation in order to explore issues beyond the initial concerns. 

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team. 

Ability to work independently and prioritize issues and workload.
