Job Description

The Nova Scotia Liberal Caucus Office is looking for a full-time Policy and Research Analyst to help shape and advance the policy priorities of our caucus members. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with Nova Scotia Liberal Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to advocate for pragmatic, progressive policies that will impact generations to come.

About this Opportunity:



As the Policy and Research Analyst, you will provide strategic policy support to Nova Scotia's Liberal MLAs both inside the legislature and across our province. Your work will range from collaborating with stakeholders to develop legislation, to briefing MLAs on emerging issues, to preparing detailed research and recommendations that inform caucus advocacy.

Reporting to the Executive Director, you will play a key role supporting the Caucus' legislative priorities, committee work and other policy work.

Responsibilities:



Identify, analyze, and propose legislation and policy initiatives for the Nova Scotia Liberal Caucus Office Work with MLAs to support local policy objectives, resolutions and petitions Support MLAs during legislative sessions by coordinating a legislative calendar and drafting questions for question period Manage caucus participation in legislative committees Assist communications staff with speechwriting and speaking notes on bills Conduct research and prepare briefing notes, reports, and policy recommendations for MLAs Meet with stakeholders to discuss policy and advocacy Identify communication opportunities for policies Other duties as required

Compensation:



The salary for this position will be approximately $55,000 annually. Qualifications and Skills:



The successful candidate will have:

A post-secondary degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience A strong interest in, and knowledge of, Nova Scotia politics Experience conducting research and presenting ideas clearly and concisely Strong communication, writing, and editing skills Time-management skills and the ability to work under pressure The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced environment.
