$80,652.20 - $91,992.70 annually + $102.02 - $116.36 bi-weekly TMA + Smithers Isolation Allowance: $32.89 bi-weekly

Job Summary
Bring your commitment to excellence in resource management practices to the Aquatic Ecosystems Branch The goal of the Aquatic Habitat Team is to conserve the natural diversity of fish and fish habitat to sustain the ecological, cultural, and economic benefits for generations to come. The Branch has statutory responsibilities under the Wildlife Act and exercises delegated authority, under the federal Fisheries Act for the management of freshwater fisheries and fish habitat. The Senior Policy Analyst provides support to Aquatic Ecosystems Branch by coordinating and leading the research, analysis, development and implementation of strategic policies, legislation, regulations, and best management practices with a particular focus on fish habitat and riparian management. Job Requirements:
Education
  • Undergraduate Degree or higher in Public Administration, Law, Business Administration, Natural Resources, Economics, or an equivalent related discipline and 3 years of related experience*.
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience* may be considered.
  • Related experience includes:
  • Experience working in a natural resource sector environment.
  • Experience in statutory interpretation and/or the development of legislation, regulation and/or policy. Preference may be given to applicants with this experience obtained in the natural resources and habitat sector.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in preparing executive level or ministerial briefings.

Preference may be given for any of the following:
  • Experience working with fish habitat, aquatic habitat issues, and/or fish and fisheries management.
  • Experience working with, or supporting work with, Indigenous Peoples.
  • Experience working with the Provincial Government mandate, legislation, programs and initiatives for fish and fish habitat.
