Nova Scotia is the provincial co-chair of the Forum of Labour Market Ministers (FLMM) and will act as the FLMM Secretariat from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2027. The FLMM is a neutral forum, composed of federal, provincial and territorial (F-P/T) Ministers responsible for labour market policies and programs. Established in 1983, the FLMM promotes discussion and cooperation between governments on pan-Canadian and regional labour market issues. The FLMM is co-chaired by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and a lead province or territory. ESDC's co-chair role is permanent, while the co-chair role transfers to a new province or territory every two years. For more information, please visit .
About Our Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of the FLMM Secretariat, the Policy Analyst will work in a highly sensitive and confidential environment in a small team within an interprovincial forum contributing to informed policy analysis and communications within the FLMM Secretariat, by providing information to support Federal / Provincial / Territorial discussions at senior levels. This work includes conducting research and analysis on a variety of labour market issues; preparing briefing materials for meetings; drafting a variety of communication materials and supporting logistics required for Federal Provincial Territorial senior level meetings and events.
Primary Accountabilities
Key Responsibilities include:

• Agenda management, including preparation of meeting packages, materials and briefing notes
• Website support, including uploading documents, coordinating information and maintaining the overall function of the platform (in partnership with a web site service provider)
• Event planning and coordination for Federal-Provincial-Territorial meetings
• Cataloguing activities for annual and mid-year reports
• Identifying Federal policies, program and initiatives that could have an impact on the labour market;
• Providing project management support
• Working with a Senior Policy Analyst to undertake research and analysis

Qualifications and Experience

You have a bachelor's degree in a related discipline, combined with 7 years of experience in a related role or an acceptable equivalent combination of training, education and experience. You have excellent communication skills (oral and written), with experience in report writing, preparation of briefing materials, presentations and communications materials, including thorough knowledge of the Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel) and other common software and presentation skills. You have experience working and collaborating on project teams including committees and events to achieve work objectives, with conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities within critical timelines. Additionally, you have analytical skills and the ability to use sound judgement in dealing with confidential materials and situations.
While not required, it is considered an asset if you have the following:

• Experience working in intergovernmental affairs.
• Ability to speak and communicate in French

Working Conditions

• Regular work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours per day
• Some overtime work may be required, reflective of time zones in other jurisdictions
• Majority of time is spent in a comfortable office setting with frequent opportunity to move about
• May be required to travel within and outside the province

Additional Information
This is a term, full-time position based in Halifax, with an anticipated end date of March 31, 2027. The appointment status ('term', 'temporary' or 'casual') is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade: PR 15
Salary Range: $2,760.42 - $3,364.90 Bi-Weekly
