Summary

As Manager of our Pluripotent Stem Cell (PSC) Core Facility within the Research and Development (R&D) department, you will be a scientific and technical expert leading the growth, development and innovation of this Core Facility.

Utilizing your leadership you will manage all operational activities within the PSC-Core including providing services to maintain, distribute and characterize human PSC lines following the highest quality standards. You will also oversee PSC related training curricula for all R&D lab users. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage day to day operations to meet the needs of the R&D department and Core Facility users, serve as a point of contact for R&D stakeholders and oversee all training curriculum, protocols, processes and services
  • Responsible for the electronic data management systems as well as inventory management of critical and specialized supplies, reagents, and consumables
  • Accountable for efficiency and productivity within the facility, including ensurance of PSC line maintenance and distribution, and proactively developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies
  • Manage the PSC Core Facility team, including providing regular coaching, mentorship, and support to all team members, and lead alignment activities cross-departmentally and cross-functionally
  • Responsible for planning, establishing, and leading the achievement of annual goals, projects. and initiatives including infrastructure, staffing, services, and CAPEX requirements
Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Life Sciences with 10+ years of relevant experience, or an MSc with 3-5 years experience or a PhD in Life Sciences required
  • 5+ years of PSC culturing experience, including performing independent experiments and detailed understanding of PSC quality standards is required
  • In depth knowledge of lab operations, techniques, equipment and services an asset, and proven experience in applying critical, analytical and strategic thinking in forward planning activities highly desirable
  • Advanced experience developing and implementing training curriculum and delivering lab skills training to lab users, as well as proficient knowledge regarding preparing and delivering scientific documents, reports and/or presentations to an audience
  • Previous experience leading and managing a lab-based function and team is required, with excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presenting) both in one-on-one and in group settings
