The De Beers Group has an opportunity within the Fixed Plant and Site Services Department at the Gahcho Ku\xc3\xa9 Mine for a motivated Plumber Artisan. Reporting to the Senior Site Services Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for carrying out inspections, repairs and service maintenance work on plumbing and mechanical equipment following established maintenance criteria. The ideal candidate is committed to safe work practices and strives for zero harm.

Key responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret specifications, drawings, blueprints and diagrams to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks and waste/drawings systems;
  • Inspection, testing and accurate reporting of equipment defects/deficiencies;
  • Install, repair and maintain plumbing systems and components including sprinkler systems;
  • Install, repair and maintain water treatment equipment, water piping systems, water heaters
  • Ensure the appropriate building and environmental legislations are met;
  • Perform regular maintenance in the field;
  • Assist in the scoping and planning out new work;
  • Perform work and maintenance on the waste oil burner system; and
  • Assist sewage treatment and water treatment plant operators with any work required on lift stations.
  • Other tasks or duties as required.
Reporting to the Senior Site Services Supervisor, the role is based within the Site Services department. This is a site-based position with a 14 days on/14 days off rotation.

Qualifications
  • Red Seal trade certificate in plumbing with five (5) years related experience minimum of ten (10) years\' experience; (Plumber)
  • Experience working on waste oil burners and their systems;
  • Ability to communicate in written and verbal form with strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to team build and promote a team environment; and
  • Experience in facilities maintenance (Commercial)
  • Experience with fire systems and controls considered an asset.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced cross-cultural environment
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
