Summary



We are currently seeking a skilled Plumber/Gasfitter to join our dedicated team in Calgary. In this role, you will be instrumental in providing high-quality plumbing services to both residential and commercial clients, ensuring that every job is completed with professionalism and care.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE BY FUNCTION

A. GET WORK (BRING IN BUSINESS/BD/MKTG/SALES) - 10% of effort

Represent HPG Mechanical with professionalism and pride at every jobsite. Build positive client relationships through clear communication and reliable workmanship. Identify opportunities for additional service work or maintenance contracts. Support the company's reputation by promoting our commitment to safety, efficiency, and quality.
B. DO WORK (DELIVER TO OUR CLIENTS/OPERATIONS) - 80% of effort

Install, repair, & maintain plumbing, gas, & heating systems according to drawings, codes & safety standards. Perform service and maintenance calls efficiently while meeting quality expectations. Troubleshoot system faults and implement cost-effective solutions. Supervise and mentor apprentices, ensuring work is completed safely and correctly. Maintain accurate job records, time sheets, and material documentation. Ensure all work meets or exceeds HPG Mechanical's quality standards and client specifications.
C. SUPPORT WORK (SUPPORT GET/DO EFFECTIVENESS) - 10% of effort

Participate in safety meetings and uphold the company's safety program. Contribute to process improvements for installations and service workflows. Maintain company tools and vehicles in top condition. Provide input to supervisors for estimating, scheduling, and design improvements. Support training and development of junior team members.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES (KEY DELIVERABLES FOR MY ROLE)

Complete plumbing and gasfitting installations on schedule and within budget. Adhere to all local building codes and HPG Mechanical safety policies. Deliver zero-defect installations with minimal rework or call-backs. Accurately complete service reports and daily documentation. Maintain strong communication with dispatch, supervisors, and clients. Mentor assigned apprentices and ensure proper training and safety compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Red Seal Journeyperson Plumber or Gasfitter (Class A or B). Minimum 5 years' industry experience (service and/or construction). Strong knowledge of plumbing and gas codes (AB Code as applicable). Experience supervising and mentoring apprentices. Valid driver's license with clean record.
MOST IMPORTANT TECHNICAL / PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

Technical:



Proficient with hand and power tools, pipefitting, brazing, soldering, and system testing. Knowledge of hydronic heating systems, boilers, and water heaters. Experience with gas piping systems, venting, and commissioning. Use of mobile field apps for job documentation and time tracking.
