Job Description



As gaming experiences are richer and more connected, with player accessing AI powered tools to contribute to games content, it is important to develop player safety solutions and practices accordingly. Other players are becoming an increasing part of each player\xe2\x80\x99s experience, and in parallel with increasingly complex interactions we need to ensure innovative and efficient way to foster positive experience for all our players.
As the landscape evolves very fast from a technology but also player behaviour standpoint, we need to be constantly innovative at scale to ensure that our experiments remain safe and positive for players. Challenges encompass things such as User Generated Content moderation, detecting and preventing toxic behaviours or interactions, promoting positive play.
The ideal candidate has two area of experiences: one that has been nurtured with social sciences or psychology that is able to model players\xe2\x80\x99 behaviour and its impacts, and another one understanding how to leverage state of the art technologies in computer science like AI to contribute to safer players\xe2\x80\x99 experiences. In collaboration with Production Tech Teams, Productions, User Research Labs and director of player Safety, you will define and lead la forge research track. Within several area of expertise, you will identify high impact topics that will require cutting edge applied research and development based on La Forge R&D framework: Experimenting through prototyping with transverse team from across the company and academic partners. About La Forge La Forge bridges academia and video game production, bringing together scholars and industry experts to facilitate technical prototyping based on the latest academic progress. Together, we explore subjects such as rendering, animation, AI, audio, and physics to tackle some of the biggest challenges in art and tech in gaming. Dedicated to innovation, we aim to accelerate research and development through prototyping to help content creators build increasingly believable worlds and better understand our players.
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do

  • Define and develop our research topics within your area of expertise + help create internal training.
  • Collaborate with other La Forge team members to develop proof-of-concept prototypes.
  • Communicate progress within and outside Ubisoft by publishing papers, presenting at conferences, etc.
  • Oversee and guide graduate students.
  • Participate in recruitment to assess candidates for internships and full-time positions.
  • Stay up to date on the latest academic advances & industry trends within your area of specialization.


Qualifications
What you bring
  • A PhD in social science, computer Science or any related technical field
  • A background in applied or basic research (in industry or academia) + the ability to lead research through standard experimental methodologies.
  • A highly collaborative spirit + excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Curiosity, critical thinking, and resourcefulness (you\xe2\x80\x99ll have access to data, game engines, and world-class experts)
  • Contributions to public research (e.g., published papers in relevant venues)
  • Motivation to find solutions to real world problems related to the video game industry.
