Rogers is seeking a Platform Specialist responsible for daily activities in support of Rogers’ internal network. Reporting to the Manager of REN Implementation at the Rogers Park Brampton Campus, you will be responsible for reviewing and executing network builds based on Engineering Design Documents, for projects in the Rogers Enterprise Network. This would include MOP creation and execution, change ticket creation, attend TAB/CAB meetings, maintenance of change calendar, working collaboratively with the Enterprise Network and Project Management teams to execute projects, monitor queues and action requests for firewall, Load balancing, asset management and monitoring, and Business continuity planning.
What you will be doing:

  • Create reporting that identifies network chokepoints and develop and execute remediation plans
  • Create, review, execute, and approve network changes
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure adherence to project delivery timelines.
  • Review network tools and documentation to ensure they satisfy department requirements
  • Create and implement method of procedure (MOP) with detailed instructions for execution of network build activities
  • Configure and deploy new hardware and software that makes the network more resilient and secure
  • Perform the “checker” function within the SNOW change management ticketing system. This includes validation of the executed MOP as per design
  • Manage the change calendar, and book change activities based on resource availability.
  • Implement network deliveries for project deployment teams to ensure delivery of core services and productivity tools are on time, on budget and with the right quality
  • Prioritize and implement end users request to ensure the most critical requests are completed based on business needs
  • Work with the engineering and project management teams to ensure timely execution of tasks.
  • Target 80% of MOPs are executed by steady state teams.
  • Provide secondary support to other teams during deployment
  • Peer review MOPs and assign change resources
  • Monitor queue to ensure requests are actioned within SLA
  • Maintain the currency of network diagrams and processes
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and execute tasks for disaster recovery exercises.
  • Maintain the currency of business continuity documentation.
  • Complete and submit monitoring & support requests when hardware is commissioned or decommissioned.
  • Utilize Kaizen methodology to improve processes, and engagement model
  • Develop automation scripts to streamline low impact high volume activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve service impacting events.

What you will bring:
  • Post secondary education in technology/engineering, and equivalent work experience in a Network Design and Support role
  • Advanced Technical Skills in the following disciplines:
  • Routing (BGP, EIGRP,OSPF)
  • Switching (VLANS, VXLAN, Trunking, port aggregation, STP)
  • Load Balancing (F5, A10)
  • Security (ASA, Checkpoint, FortiGate, SRX)
  • IP Services (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, NTP & FTP)
  • Management services (SevOne, HPNA, Tacacs, NNMi)
  • Software tools (Protocol Analyzers - Wireshark)
  • Productivity tools - Microsoft (Word, Excel, Visio, Project)
  • Wireless networking (Cisco, Meraki)
  • Processes (ITIL)
  • Platforms (Cisco, Juniper, FortiGate, Checkpoint, F5, A10)
  • Working knowledge AWS, Azure and Akamai
  • Proficiency with scripting languages
