How You Will Contribute:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Routing and Software IP Engineering, as a Platform Software Engineer, Embedded, you will develop embedded C/C++ software, including enhancements to existing software, development of new features, and support of new hardware. You will participate in all stages of software development, including requirements analysis, design, prototyping, implementation, test, and maintenance

You will play a key role in troubleshooting software and performance issues, and work with Architects, Software and Hardware Engineers to undertake root cause analysis.

You will work with firmware and low-level software such as Drivers on Linux platforms.

You will identify software performance improvements, including but not limited to CPU usage and memory management

You will employ test driven development methodologies, automated unit testing, and comprehensive integration testing.

You will regularly engage with Product Owners and System Architects to evolve and invigorate the platform, to ensure that it can continue to adopt and support new features and technologies.

You will actively influence the software architecture, to improve resiliency, debuggability and maintainability.

The Must Haves:

Minimum Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Computer Science or Engineering coupled with proven work experience in an embedded software design role, preferably in a data networking or telecommunications environment.

Demonstrated proficiency in embedded operating system concepts, including sound knowledge of mutual exclusion, synchronization, interrupt handling, inter-process communication, memory management, multi-threading, Linux OS utilities and system calls.

Experience with developing high performance, fault tolerant, highly available C/C++ application software on multi-processor, highly concurrent systems, preferably in data networking domain.

Comfort in debugging complex system/platform issues such as crashes and traps, memory leaks, issues with inter-process communications, CPU hogs etc.

Knowledge of Linux Drivers .

Familiarity with software upgrades and high availability of embedded Telecom systems.
