This role requires a deep understanding of platform architecture, integration, and scalability to ensure the delivery of robust and efficient platform services. The Platform Tech Lead will work closely with cross-functional teams to align platform capabilities with business objectives and drive innovation. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability and performance of our platforms, as well as supporting our ITS strategic roadmap.This role will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office or Toronto home based office. Vancouver-based candidates may be expected to come into office at least once per week.A typical day would involve:

  • Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for platform development that aligns with business goals and enhances user experience.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the platform team, ensuring best practices in architecture, design, and coding. Lead a cross-functional team of engineers, architects, and product managers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Ensure the platform architecture is robust, scalable, and secure. Provide guidance on best practices and technical standards.
  • Implement and maintain metrics to monitor platform performance, reliability, and user engagement. Use data-driven insights to identify improvements.
  • Lead platform-related projects, from planning and execution to delivery, ensuring alignment with business goals and timelines. Coordinate with stakeholders to define project technical requirements and objectives.
  • Work closely with internal teams (e.g., product, data platforms, retail) to understand needs and ensure platform solutions meet user demands.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to optimize platform functionality and integrations.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to leverage new tools and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations related to platform usage and data security. Incorporate into the platform roadmap compliance / regulatory items and legacy systems modernization.
You have:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in platform development, integration and management, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.
  • Understanding of Canadian banking and/or payments ecosystem including the partner landscape is an asset
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations.
  • Proficiency in the platform full stack (Web, Application, Database)
  • Good understanding of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure), API development, microservices architecture.
  • Strong understanding of platform architecture and integration technologies.
  • Familiar with multi-server environments.
  • Working knowledge of DevOps principles.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Splunk.
  • Strong technical leadership abilities, with experience in technical decision-making, road mapping & platform optimization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross functional teams & articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity.
