GeneNeer is an emerging plant biotechnology startup developing next-generation gene editing platforms for accelerated crop improvement. We are expanding our R&D operations in Canada and are seeking talented scientists to support the development of advanced plant transformation technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, optimize, and execute plant tissue culture and regeneration protocols Perform Agrobacterium-mediated transformation and support gene editing workflows Initiate, maintain, and manage in vitro cultures under sterile conditions Conduct callus induction, shoot regeneration, rooting, and acclimatization Prepare and maintain E. coli and Agrobacterium cultures; perform bacterial transformation and plasmid preparation Perform genotyping workflows, including DNA extraction, PCR, and gel electrophoresis Maintain detailed experimental records, analyze data, and report results Troubleshoot tissue culture and transformation processes Collaborate with multidisciplinary R&D teams to advance GeneNeer's technology platforms Support development of new transformation strategies and workflow improvements

Required Qualifications

MSc or PhD in Plant Biotechnology, Plant Science, Molecular Biology, or a related field 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in plant tissue culture and regeneration Proven ability to work with sterile technique, micropropagation, explant preparation, and culture maintenance Practical experience with Agrobacterium-mediated transformation (required/preferred) Strong organizational, documentation, and troubleshooting skills Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

Experience specifically with potato tissue culture Familiarity with CRISPR or other gene editing systems Experience working in a startup, high-throughput, or applied research setting
