Job Description


As a Plant Systems Technologist in our Plant Operations group, you will play a crucial role and be positioned at the intersection of plant and corporate Information Systems (IS). You\'ll translate the urgent needs of the plant in relation to the IS/IT systems and can speak the language that will help expedite resolution of technical problems, especially the ones that heavily really on the assistance of various IS departments.

What You Will Do
  • Respond to requests for technical support involving CBN manufacturing production
  • Manage Windows 10 systems (on production floor), VMs, interconnectivity (HW/SW) and various peripherals they are connected to;
  • Upgrade, install, and configuring application software and computer hardware as required by production environment and within the guidelines of various SOPs;
  • Troubleshoot issues and provide technical support to production staff at all CBN Plant locations;
  • Perform regular application tests and operational monitoring of in-house and 3rd party applications used in production environment;
  • Assist corporate Information Services and corporate Software Development teams with troubleshooting issues related to databases, internal applications and overall system compatibility;
  • Assist with maintaining network connectivity for plant critical software and hardware and network file systems access;
  • Liaise with 3rd party software providers and hardware vendors during issue resolution process; and
  • Various other duties and responsibilities.
Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience
  • Degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or similar) or a diploma and equivalent relevant work experience
  • Knowledge and experience with cloud computing, Azure AD and Sharepoint is a must.
  • Knowledge and experience with windows automation, scripting and Power Automate
  • Knowledge of various databases and database tools would be highly desirable.
Technical Skills
  • O/S: Windows, Linux, virtualized environments
  • Hardware: Servers, workstations, peripherals
  • Network Communications: OSI Layers, IP Addressing, Switching, VLAN, STP, Multicast/Unicast, VPN, WiFi, VPN;
  • Network Troubleshooting Skills & Tools: Splunk, Fluke Network Testers;
  • Network Security: Familiar with Intrusion Detection Prevention technologies, IPSec/SSL, NAC, Radius/Tacacs, Packet Inspection, ITSG-22 zoning and segregation.
  • Scripting: Pearl, Bash, Powershell
  • Automation Platform: Power Automate
  • Cloud: Azure Cloud based networking would be a considerable asset.
  • Applications: MS 365, Excel, PowerBI, PowerQuery

  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration
Mandatory Requirements
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)
  • Ability to carry on-call pager on a rotational weekly basis. While on-call, any issues that cannot be resolved remotely will warrant on-site visitation for resolution.
  • Ability to perform duties that are physical in nature - e.g. lifting, bending, going up/
down stairs, awkward positions, etc.

Security Clearance Requirements
  • The ability to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Secret (Level II) clearance
