Job Description


Your leaders in supplying drainage pipe to Southwestern Ontario Bluewater Pipe is a manufacturing facility in Huron Park Ontario that produces corrugated plastic pipe and accessory products used primarily for agricultural purposes. Sharing a deeply rooted background in the field of agricultural drainage going back more than 60 years, Bluewater pipe and their partner company Soleno decided to join forces to better serve the needs of farmers in Southwestern Ontario. Soleno and Bluewater Pipe now form a single entity able to carry on the legacy of quality and trustworthiness associated with both their names. We focus on quality service to our customers, efficiency in fulfilling and delivering orders, and quality of their products. We\'re seeking a Plant Supervisor to manage daily manufacturing processes and oversee the safety of our workers. This person will report directly to the Plant Manager and work as an assistant to them in their role. The ideal candidate has a background in manufacturing, holds knowledge of current industry standards, and has experience managing a team of production workers and leading them to reach daily/weekly production quotas. A successful candidate is detail oriented, has great communication and leadership skills, has a positive attitude, enjoys problem solving and is able to prioritize tasks. Responsibilities:

  • Oversee up to 10 personelle working on the floor at any time, inclusive of machine operators, pipe coilers, and general labourers working in sync to successfully meet production quotas for multiple products.
  • Work directly with the plant manager to create an execution plan on a weekly basis to ensure that production is met for upcoming orders, for multiple different products. The plant supervisor will create a weekly game plan, prioritize tasks, and manage what the operators and floor personelle are doing to ensure the weekly production quotas are met.
  • Watch for lost time of workers and delegate tasks to operators and floor personelle to optimize efficiency and maintain an organized environment.
  • Review technical aspects of operations, equipment and facilities with subordinates. Report any potential problems with machinery or other equiptment to Plant Manager.
  • Responsible for the orderly and safe operation of machinery and equiptment in the plant. Monitor the work of subordinates to ensure that they are performing their job duties in line with policies and procedures and using required PPE.
  • Looks for and determines ways to improve plant efficiency and productivity.
  • Responsible to understand the materials required to produce different products, and monitors the inventory levels of supplies needed to meet weekly production quotos. Work with Plant Manager to inform of any materials that are running low so that orders can be placed to prevent halts in production.
  • The Plant Supervisor reports directly to the Plant Manager and supports them with other tasks and projects that need to be completed.
  • Provides a weekly report to the Plant Manager on production levels met or not met, inventory of supplies, general succcesses or challenges faced.
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years experience supervising at least 8 workers in a manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years as a supervisor in a manufacturing environment that produces multiple products
  • Experience in manufacturing facility with heavy equiptment
  • Proven experience creating plans to ensure that production quotas are met
  • Experience and knowledge of current health and safety standards, and history of managing a team and educating and enforcing the workers on working safe
  • Experience monitoring inventory levels of a variety of materials required for production
Hours of work:
  • Required: 40 - 44 hours / week.
  • Overtime hours available. Overtime is paid at time and a half after 44 hours of work.
Bluewater Pipe is a 24 hour operation and currently runs two 12 hour shifts from 6am-6pm, and 6pm-6am. The Plant Supervisor has some flexibility in the start and end time of their day, but should be present for one of the shift changes. For example this person could start their day at 5am, and oversee the 6am shift change, or start at later and be present to oversee the evening shift change. There is some flexibility in the number of hours worked each day, but they must be at work Monday - Friday. Compensation:
  • Hourly rate from $22.00 - $26.00 / hour.
  • 2 weeks of paid vacation.

Certifications required:
  • Standard Health + Safety trainings and certs are an asset, but training can be provided and updated by Bluewater Pipe upon starting work.
