The Opportunity:



Make your mark while you grow your career! We have an amazing opportunity for a Plant Operator to join our Albian Plant Operations Team! As a Plant Operator, you will interact and coordinate with a team of operators and maintenance staff to ensure production, quality and environmental targets are met for our operations. The key functions of a Plant Operator are to contribute to the reliability and safe operations of our facility and to work with many key internal and external stake holders. This position reports to the Shift Team Lead.

Fort McMurray, Alberta - Albian Oil Sands site

Shift schedule:

7 x 7, 12-hour shift (Tuesday - Monday)

Please note: This is a hands-on role. Physical requirements may include climbing stairs and ladders, entering vessels and equipment for inspections, turning valves, dragging hoses, long hours on your feet etc.*

Key Accountabilities:



Utilize operations expertise in a dynamic production environment, maintain and optimize equipment and processes while collaborating with members of your team to oversee the day-to-day plant activities Ensuring Environment, Health & Safety and integrity are a top priority, and completing all work with a safety conscious attitude: + Issuing Safe Work Permits within a complex operating environment, including hot work, work within confined spaces, and excavation/trenching work
+ Safe isolation of process equipment including the development of specific equipment Lock Out Tag Outs (LOTO's), placing and verifying isolations, and blinding
+ Performing operating assignments on plant equipment to ensure a safe working environment
Review, understand and fully utilize Canadian Natural's safety and operational procedures and standards in performing all facets of work and troubleshooting equipment issues and perform area maintenance activities and housekeeping including blinding, valve and pump replacements and operating mobile equipment Identify and scope out Continuous Improvement opportunities to maximize production, minimize operating costs and eliminate downtime and recommend modifications to plant processes Work with the various teams on preventative maintenance and ensure equipment is running efficiently and safely Utilize our maintenance management system and enter work orders for deficiencies that need to be repaired and monitoring facility readings, perform proactive equipment monitoring rounds and sample collections and participate in review, modifications or development of facility procedures Start-up, operate and shut down unit operations with expertise and maintain proper documentation on a shift-by-shift basis including operating logs, Intelletrac, maintenance records and safety & environmental reports

What You Bring to the Role:



5 years of operational experience at a large integrated industrial utilities facility A minimum 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate, with preference towards a 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate Expertise in the following is considered an asset: + DCS Controls Systems, Raw Water and Distribution Systems
+ Recycle Water and Distribution Systems
+ Condensate Collection Systems
+ Gas Turbines and Auxiliaries
+ Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG's),
+ Boilers and Steam Distribution Systems
+ Heat Exchangers
+ Instrument and Utility Air Systems and
+ Power Distribution
+ Ability to read P&IDs and PFDs
Valid Class 5 Driver's License Self-starter who works well in a high paced team environment with a continuous improvement mindset and previous experience commissioning new plant facilities is an asset Ability to work in an outside environment, at heights, climbing ladders and work in and around confined spaces
