About this opportunity:
Our Foster Creek Operations Team is currently recruiting for a Plant Operator to join our team!
Reporting to the Coordinator, the Plant Operator will effectively participate as a team member in the operation of Cenovus Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) facilities.
These positions will be for various units and the Operators will be trained to become proficient in the operation of one or more areas of the processing facility.
While this vacancy is currently at Foster Creek, the actual vacancy could be at any of the three Oil Sands Operations sites. (Christina Lake, Foster Creek, or Sunrise, based on business need)
What youll do:
Responsible for operation of a process unit by ensuring activities are focused on safety, production, compliance, etc. and aligned with business needs and priorities
Monitors process conditions and initiates troubleshooting activities for all abnormal operational events and takes corrective actions as necessary
Supports maintenance schedule by preparing equipment for scheduled work
Involved in the development and review of procedures
Completes and review e-Log entries
Conducts walk-arounds, participates in formal safety audits; LOTO, HSE audits
Performs regulatory compliance checks and reporting requirements
Supports commissioning and start-up of new equipment and processes, as required
Contributes to a work environment that supports a motivated, productive team
Calls out issues that require higher authority for input and resolution
Participates in cross-functional teams
Who you are:
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Must have a minimum of 5 years of operating experience
Relevant industry experience would be an asset
A minimum of a 4th Class Power Engineering degree is required, with preference for a 3rd or 2nd Class Steam Certification
Familiar with oil and gas facilities and equipment.
Effective communication skills and ability to articulating complex concepts to diverse audiences.
Innovative, analytical problem solver with robust problem-solving capabilities.
As this position has been identified as safety critical, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments
For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate
Work Environment:
This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 7 days on 7 days off, 12 hours per day, Wednesday to Tuesday
Foster Creek has full-service camp facilities
Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations
Foster Creek is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton
