Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager to join our team and oversee the operations of a manufacturing plant in Kitchener. Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the people, systems, processes, and equipment within the business. Responsibilities:

• Manage the operations including developing and implementing plans to efficiently use materials, labour, and equipment to meet production targets.

• Provide leadership and direction to the Operations, Materials, Process Improvement, and Quality departments.

• Oversee the production schedule and the allocation of material, manpower, and equipment resources within the facility, while ensuring the operational budget is adhered to.

• Maintain a strong mechanical and electrical understanding of the equipment throughout the facility to predict failures, coordinate improvements, and engineer new solutions.

Plan and implement repairs to machinery and equipment, including replacement.

• Liaise and lead cross-functional teams, including Sales, Finance, HR, Engineering, and Maintenance.

• Responsible for hiring, supervising, and training staff, including conducting regular performance reviews and coaching where appropriate.

• Communicate with and coach all Supervisors and Employees to ensure compliance with all plant and Occupational Health and Safety policies.

• Implement plant process and efficiency improvements by developing strategy, gathering resources, making decisions, and taking action.

• Ensure operations are in accordance with lean manufacturing principles and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving the process and the work environment.

• Track and address recurring process, system, and human resource issues and work toward viable solutions.

- Bachelor of Engineering or a related field of study
- 10 or more years experience in a senior leadership role within a manufacturing environment
- Strength in Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing principles required
- Demonstrated ability to lead a large manufacturing organization
