Founded in 2005, Safety Power is a leading Canadian cleantech company. We are a leading supplier to the data centre industry. Our equipment removes nitrogen oxides, particulates and other harmful emissions most commonly for diesel engines used for backup power; end users of our systems include Amazon, Google and Microsoft. In order to meet customer demand, we are opening a sixth production facility located in Burlington, Ontario which will make our EcoCube reactors. We are hiring a Plant Manager to oversee the start-up and ongoing metal fabricating and cladding manufacturing processes for this plant; ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met. This role plays a crucial role in optimizing production operations, managing resources, and leading a team to achieve production goals.
Main Responsibilities & Duties
Partner with Human Resources on the recruitment and selection of new staff, including onboarding activities and administration.
Develop and implement production plans to meet customer demands and delivery deadlines.
Create and maintain production schedules and ensure optimal utilization of resources.
Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure products meet or exceed industry standards. Collaborate with quality teams to address any issues/non-compliances.
Achieve and maintain ISO9001 certification for the facility. Assume a lead role in the auditing process and effectively collaborate with various departments across the business.
Effectively lead and motivate a team of production staff, including managers, supervisors and line workers.
Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork, communication, and professional development.
Manage and allocate resources effectively, including personnel, equipment and materials.
Optimize production processes to maximize plant performance, while minimizing waste.
Promote a strong safety culture, enforcing safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all staff.
Liaise with the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions in a timely manner, including investigating accidents.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance productivity.
Budget management, ensuring to work within budgetary constraints, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
Analyse production costs and implement measures to improve cost efficiency.
Effectively collaborate with other departments across the organization, and communicate production goals, and updates to team members and upper management.
Effectively manage performance and communicate expectations to staff.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a management role within a metal fabrication environment.
Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to successfully engage and motivate a team to facilitate success.
Superior organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Familiar with safety regulations and quality control standards.
Ability to work well under pressure and within tight and changing deadlines.
Compensation and Work Arrangement:
Full-time, Monday to Friday.
Base Salary: $140,000 per annum, or more depending on candidate's experience.
Eligible to participate in Company's bonus program.
