We are currently hiring a Plant Engineer to join the team at our Wynyard facility in Wynyard, SK.



Wynyard

: Compass Minerals' Wynyard Mechanical Evaporation Plant is located on Big Quill Lake. The plant is Canada's largest producer of sulfate of potash (SOP). The site uses two unique processes to produce SOP: ion exchange process and glaserite process. SOP from this site is used for the pharmaceutical, medical, food and fertilizer industries, and other industrial uses.



The Wynyard Plant is located right on Big Quill Lake, in a friendly community of 1,800, situated 50 minutes from the city of Humboldt and a 2 hour drive from Saskatoon.


Summary:

Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining and improving the Wynyard Facility. The Plant Engineer will assess the facility's resource requirements, design and optimize the facility's layout and critical operational systems, and oversee the maintenance of infrastructure and equipment.


How will you contribute to the team?





To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following


Collaborate with the site operations team to improve equipment utilization and minimize downtime. Lead the design, budgeting, and execution of capital projects, including preparation and submission of capital appropriation requests with financial justification. Manage project cost to ensure adherence to budgets, achieving completion within project scope and timelines. Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement to decrease costs and increase plant efficiencies. Analyze data, blueprints, and reports to determine facility and equipment specifications that enhance performance. Design and implement facility expansion, layout, various systems, and quality controls to support operational growth. Evaluate operational systems and facility infrastructure to identify and implement improvements to increase operational efficiency. Plan and coordinate preventative maintenance schedules for infrastructure and equipment to reduce unplanned outages. Manage contractors performing maintenance activities, ensuring work is completed on time and within budget. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards through regular inspections and audits. Maintain accurate maintenance records and compliance documentation to support audits and submission requirements.

What should you bring to the role?



Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering or related field Minimum of five years of experience in manufacturing At least two years in project management involving cross-functional teams At least two years in leading maintenance/process reliability programs Excellent computer skills and experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and MS Office. Knowledge of the building process and construction principles. Knowledge of relevant regulations and building codes.
