Plant Controller

Our client in the automotive industry in the Newmarket, ON area is looking to add a Plant Controller to their team. If you have high-volume automotive manufacturing experience at this level and looking for a positive change, then read on!

The Role at a glance:
  • Financial Reconciliation and Reporting: Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and monthly journal entries. Coordinate sub-ledger closing in the general ledger (G/L) and produce financial statements.
Sub-Ledger Integrity: Ensure accuracy of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets sub-ledgers, maintaining their integrity.

Budget Assistance: Aid in annual budget preparation and contribute to the development of the standard costing system.

Reporting and Analysis: Generate actual vs. budget departmental reports monthly, scheduling meetings for result reviews. Prepare Statistics Canada reports as needed.

Management Support: Assist divisional controller in preparing reports, key indicators, and corrective actions, reporting in management review meetings. Attend weekly management meetings.

Team Management: Participate in employee evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions. Assist in hiring, onboarding, and training needs determination; present team of 6 within Finance * Compliance and Improvement: Abide by safety regulations, company policies, and OHSA requirements. Promote environmental and quality standards (ISO 14001, IATF 16949). Drive Kaizen and GEAR initiatives for continuous improvement.

You Bring:

Requires a university degree in accounting or business administration, along with a CPA qualification.

Minimum of three years of supervisory/management experience and three years in a manufacturing setting. Strong knowledge of relevant government legislation.

Interpersonal and Leadership Skills * Proficient in Microsoft applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, enhancing overall operational capabilities.
