We envision an industry recognized for its adaptable, collaborative business approach.The Animal and Crop Services Section aims to grow and support agriculture sectors such as the livestock, agronomic and horticulture industries, being proactive, sustainable, and innovative. The section supports agriculture protection through administration of legislation and programs.Primary AccountabilitiesReporting to the Senior Program Administrator (Pest and Regulations), the Plant Protection Coordinator will be responsible to provide advice and guidance related to integrated pest management, agronomy, and horticulture to government and industry stakeholders. You will be responsible to work collaboratively with specialists, industry partners and governments to facilitate development of strategies, tools, and decision support system to mitigate risk respecting agricultural pests.Qualifications and ExperienceYou will have a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in agriculture and be a Professional Agrologist or be eligible for membership with the Nova Scotia Institute of Agrologists (NSIA).As the successful candidate, you have extensive knowledge of the agriculture sector and understand the Department\xe2\x80\x99s goals and how they connect to the agriculture industry. Experience in agricultural practices, weed science, plant pest identification and plant disease diagnosis skills are required.
