What You'll Do
The Planning Student assists the Land Use Planning Division in a sub-regional office (Lakeshore, Inland or Peninsula). Primary responsibilities are to provide administrative and technical support for all aspects of processing applications under the Planning Act, including minor variance, zoning by-law amendment, official plan amendment, consent, plans of subdivision / condominium and other matters. The Planning Student also provides policy development support by conducting research, engaging with stakeholders, and assisting with planning projects.
Contract Duration: 16 weeks, May to August 2026
What We're Looking For
Education & Experience

  • Presently enrolled in a recognized Post-Secondary Institution with focus on Land Use Planning
Skills & Abilities
  • Superior writing, communication, and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent knowledge of spelling and grammar
  • An eye for detail, confident in reading plans and by-laws for accuracy
  • Ability to work under pressure, take direction and receive constructive feedback aimed at achieving results
  • Excellent personal and project management skills
  • Positive, confident, self-motivated, results-oriented, team player
  • Proficient computer skills with Windows based software, including Microsoft Office
  • Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License
