70 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:45 PM (Nine-Day Fortnight)

This position works in the Development organizational unit. This is planning work at the semi-professional level in assisting with and preparing development applications under the direction of a supervisor. The incumbent assembles, researches, analyzes, and interprets a wide variety of data relevant to planning programs and projects; prepares reports and recommendations for consideration by a supervisor; represents the Department at internal and external meetings and establishes and maintains liaison with a variety of internal and external contacts. The incumbent exercises considerable independence of judgement and action within defined limits while more complex or unusual matters are referred to a supervisor who reviews work performance in terms of technical adequacy and conformance to established procedures and policies. Performs related work as required.


Qualifications include the completion of a University graduation in Urban Geography, Planning or a related discipline and sound related experience within a planning environment OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the rules, regulations, policies, by-laws and objectives governing the operations of the Planning Department; knowledge of the community and/or social planning practices, principles, techniques and methods applicable to the work performed and of the current trends and developments in the relevant discipline. A Planning Analyst will have the ability to collect, analyze and interpret statistical and narrative data; represent the Planning Department, make public presentations; establish and maintain effective working relationships with Municipal staff professionals and will have the ability to prepare correspondence and maintain records and files related to the work. A valid Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
