The Community Treatment Orders (CTO) team supports individuals who are diagnosed with a serious mental illness and have had lengthy or repeated admissions to the health centre. As a CTO Planner, a qualified candidate will have the following:
Education:
You are ideal for this position if you have a college or university degree, certificate or diploma in a mental health related field. A theoretical and practical knowledge of general psychiatry principles and philosophies with respect to the treatment and management of clients with a serious mental illness is required. Current comprehensive knowledge of the revised Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act and other appropriate legislation is required. The CTO Planner will have minimum 5 years prior experience in a mental health care setting working with clients who suffer from a serious mental illness; a minimum of three years' experience as a CTO planner is preferred. Excellent assessment, documentation and triage capabilities, as well as pharmacology and related treatment protocols are essential.

Position Summary:
The role of the Community Treatment Order Planner will be multi-faceted. Specifically, the CTO Planner will
• participate in the development of Community Treatment Orders within Simcoe County; primarily for the Barrie & Orillia region
• organize discharge planning activities with physicians and other appropriate community case management services;
• establish working relationships with mental health and social service providers who may assist with a CTO and
• provide information and education within the community with respect to CTO's.
The CTO Planner will strive to improve the quality of living and oversee the therapeutic management of clients who suffer from a serious mental disorder through the establishment of a comprehensive plan of community-based treatment. The CTO Planner will provide both direct and indirect assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of mental health care.
Provide support coverage to the Adult Mental Health Day Program as required.
