Job Title: PIT Count 2025 - Temporary Coordinator / Assistant Coordinator



Duration: August 2025-December 2025 (approx. 4-5 months; includes prep, training, count events, post-count reporting)

Part-Time - Hourly wage: Depending on experience, $25-$40

Purpose: Co-Lead and support the planning and execution of the community's 2025 Point-in-Time (PiT) Count, including outreach, volunteer coordination, data collection, inter-agency liaison, and final report delivery. Priority will be given to Indigenous applicants.

Position Purpose:


We're seeking a dedicated and organized individual to co-lead and support the planning and execution of the community's 2025 Point-in-Time (PiT) Count. This critical role involves coordinating outreach efforts, recruiting and managing volunteers, facilitating data collection, acting as a liaison across partner agencies, and contributing to the final report. Your work will directly impact how we understand and respond to homelessness in our community.

Key Responsibilities

1. Planning & Coordination

Establish a PiT Count steering committee or assist an existing one Map out sheltered and unsheltered count locations; confirm Housing Inventory Chart (HIC) participants. Develop a comprehensive timeline.
2. Stakeholder Engagement & Communications

Collaborate with agencies (shelters, outreach teams, law enforcement, Indigenous-serving organizations). Work with Homeward Trust or Continuum of Care staff to ensure data sharing & adherence to local definitions. Create communications materials (flyers, media advisories, social posts).
3. Volunteer Recruitment & Training

Work with Homeward Trust to develop a volunteer recruitment strategy. Lead volunteer training sessions, covering safety protocols, survey methods, data privacy, and Indigenous cultural awareness. Assign volunteers to teams under agency leads; provide ongoing support.
4. Count Oversight

Manage logistics for sheltered and unsheltered count nights; set up HQ site(s). Support with data collection via app or paper tools; ensure completeness and accuracy. Monitor adherence to protocols; troubleshoot field issues; coordinate safety checks.
5. Data Management & Reporting

Gather completed surveys and verify data quality. Collaborate with data consultants or analysts to compile statistics. Prepare and deliver an interim report (3-5 weeks post-count) and a comprehensive final report (2-3 months post-count).
6. Debrief & Recommendations

Host debrief with agencies, volunteers, and stakeholders. Document lessons learned and best practices for PiT Count 2026.
Qualifications & Skills:

Required

Bachelor's degree (Social Work, Community Development, Statistics, etc.) or equivalent experience in homelessness services. 2+ years coordinating multi-stakeholder community events or research projects. Familiarity with PiT Count methodology; strong data management and survey skills. Excellent organizational, communication, and public relations capabilities. Experience working with vulnerable populations, notably Indigenous communities and unsheltered individuals. Knowledge of Indigenous ways of life and culturally responsive approaches to engagement. Available evenings/weekends for count events; comfortable working in diverse environments.
Asset

Project management certification. Experience with survey apps. Lived experience in homelessness or with Indigenous communities. Experience preparing funding proposals and managing budgets.
Contract Details:

Status: Temporary contract (through agency or subcontractor arrangement). Supervision: Reports to the Housing Director. Location: Primarily remote with in-person duties during count and stakeholder meetings in Edmonton Metro. Wage: Depending on experience, $25-$40 an hour.
