Piping Stress Engineer

Job Description

The Opportunity:

As the Piping Stress Engineer, you will be responsible to provide engineering support for Major projects. Your role is to work independently on projects providing technical expertise on stress analysis and engineering solutions for piping systems. You will have the opportunity to participate in the evaluation, recommendation and specification for engineered systems products for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Perform and check linear and nonlinear pipe stress calculation to meet ASME/API Code
  • Experience in performing piping stress analysis and flexibility calculations for Static and Dynamic System
  • Perform FEA evaluation for evaluation of stresses at nozzles using NozzlePro or other software
  • Experience with Slurry piping stress analysis including Victaulic Couplings and Expansion Barrels
  • Coordinate with Civil/Structural discipline to ensure loads are being effectively communicated
  • Prepare material requisition, perform technical bid evaluation for the piping components and valves
  • Review the piping and valve selections for piping systems in various services
  • Apply knowledge of ASME B 31.1/B 31.3/B 31.4 for internal/ external pressure wall thickness calculations and reinforcement calculations

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer, registered with APEGA
  • Minimum 12 years of experience with piping stress analysis with CAESASR II Software
  • Good communication skills and pro-active approach to problem solving
  • Experience with FEA Tools such as NozzlePro or others is an asset
  • Organized, methodical and detail -oriented
  • Strong safety awareness
  • Effectively manages multiple and conflicting priorities
