Hatch is seeking a Piping Designer New Graduate with interest in Piping system design. Reporting to the Mechanical/Piping Discipline Lead Engineer, you will support projects globally working from the Saskatoon office with opportunities to work in other Hatch offices and at project job sites.

Responsibilities:
  • Work independently to apply design principles for 3D models and 2D mechanical equipment, piping layout or general arrangement drawings of industrial buildings and processes.
  • Work collaboratively to share the results of your work with senior members of the discipline and/or other Hatch groups.
  • Develop 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical and piping systems.
  • Become knowledgeable of various mechanical equipment, various design tools, piping system design, discipline workflows, and industrial components/processes.
  • Participate in office and site safety training and inductions as needed to support office and site activities.
  • Perform field verification and provide field support during construction.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work in other Hatch offices or project work sites (including remote sites) as needs and opportunities arise.
Education and Experience:
  • Must be working towards graduating in 2024, or recently graduated, with certification or diploma qualification in Engineering Design and Drafting.
  • Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community.
  • Previous relevant coop and summer work terms or internships in Mechanical or Piping design is an asset.
  • Academic or work experience with Bentley MicroStation, OpenPlant P&ID or Design Review CAD software is an asset.
  • Understanding or experience with layout development of industrial facilities is considered an asset.

  • Good understanding of design principles related to mechanical and/or piping systems.
