DNV - Energy Systems seeks to employ a Pipeline Integrity Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) to support our Calgary Alberta based Integrity Solutions and Compliance Department. This position is in our Calgary, Alberta office and involves working with both in-person and remotely located colleagues. What You ll Do
  • Working effectively and efficiently within a group of approximately 45 professionals located in our Calgary, Alberta and Dublin, Ohio offices
  • Assisting in the development of engineering assessments through review and evaluation of safety and integrity management programs as well as conducting deterministic and probabilistic based engineering assessments
  • Assisting in the development and/or assessment of integrity management program and plan documents to address and manage integrity or other pipeline threats
  • Assessing and interpreting in-line inspection and corresponding field excavation data to assess the performance of the in-line inspection tools which involves undertaking detailed flaw analysis
  • Reviewing documents, analyzing management system and program processes, and developing recommendations for compliance assurance activities related to regulatory audits and evaluations
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of clients safety, integrity, damage prevention and mitigation programs and processes
  • Developing documented processes and providing clients with support and advice on pipeline regulatory and code compliance-related matters
  • Engaging in a group of engineers and consultants, reviewing, and verifying each other s work
  • Interacting with other team members and clients in a manner that is professional and promotes collaboration

Position Qualifications

What is Required
  • Education - Post-secondary degree in Engineering or Applied Science, E.I.T. status must be registered, or eligible for immediate registration, with APEGA
    • Preferred disciplines: Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline
  • Computer Literacy: Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Must have experience in technical writing, problem solving, critical thinking, and the ability to pick up technical concepts quickly
  • Attention to detail, internally motivated, hardworking, soft social skills, professional presence, takes initiative
  • Ability to work on a team effectively and efficiently, but also be able to show effectiveness when working individually
  • Ability to handle fast pace, high demand environments with strong stress management skills
What is Preferred Experience in:
  • Pipeline inspection, pipeline integrity risk management or pipeline data management
  • Programming languages: VBA, Python, or other related programming language
  • Finite Element Modeling and Analysis, preferably with Abaqus
  • Engineering Critical Assessment using fracture mechanics concept
  • Power BI
