Overview
We are seeking skilled Pipefitters to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining piping systems in various settings. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to read blueprints and schematics. As a Pipefitter, you will work closely with other tradespeople to ensure that all installations meet safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Adhere to the Academy HSE program's guidelines
Demonstrate a strong commitment to Academy's safety program, values, and corporate culture
Interpret isometric drawings accurately for fabrication purposes
Align and secure pipes in accordance with isometric drawings
Arrange and mark pipes for precision cutting
Operate manual or semi-automatic flame cutting equipment
Utilize hoisting and lifting equipment effectively
Operate welding machines that have been pre-set
Possibility of being tasked with operating a skid steer
Be open to working flexible schedules as required
Effectively communicate in a professional manner with individuals at all organizational levels
Mentor and collaborate closely with Pipefitter Apprentices
Attend daily toolbox meetings for project coordination
Consistently and correctly follow established procedures
Wear the appropriate personal protective gear at all times
Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization in the work area
Report any personal injuries, regardless of severity, and seek necessary medical attention when required
Skills
Possession of a Journeyman Pipefitter Certification
Familiarity with industry standards and best practices
Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license
Over six years of experience in fabrication shop work
Proficiency in the English language is mandatory
Capable of lifting at least 50lbs and physically fit for fabrication shop tasks
Required to have a valid CSTS-09 (Construction Safety Training Systems) certification
Mandatory possession of WHMIS 2015 certification
Physical Requirements
The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing weld specifications for extended periods of time; and extensive reading. The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for walking on uneven ground, climbing, confined space entry, limited lifting, and sitting.
