Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Pipe Welder / Pipe Welding Inspector to join our dynamic team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pressure welding and piping installations with expertise in non-destructive testing procedures and visual weld inspection.
During peak periods, this position will focus primarily on quality control and weld inspection. During slower inspection periods, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to leverage their welding skills as a certified pressure welder.
This position plays a key role within our company as it ensures superior weld quality and upholds Omineca's reputation for excellence in the industry.
Responsibilities
Visual inspections on pressure piping spools and installations per WPS / PQR / ASME & CSA code requirements.
Review and validate WPS, PQR, and welder performance qualifications according to ASME Section IX, ASME B31.1/B31.3, CSA B51, and TSBC requirements.
Maintain welder logbooks and documentation as required by TSBC for corporate Class A license compliance.
Coordinate and review NDE (RT, UT, MT, PT) with third-party contractors, evaluate indications, issue nonconformance reports, and ensure corrective actions are completed.
Prepare weld maps, traceability records, inspection reports, and data books for client and TSBC turnover.
Support TSBC audits, inspections, and design registration requirements.
Provide guidance and training to welders/fabricators on code adherence and procedural compliance.
Perform pressure-piping welding (in shop or field) in compliance with WPS/PQRs.
Assist with spooling, fit-up, alignment, preheat/post heat, weld repair, etc.
Troubleshoot fabrication or piping installation issues to support project execution.
Travel to customer sites / remote locations as required.
Qualifications
Level 2 CWB Certified Visual Welding Inspector for CSA W178.2 ( Level 3 considered an asset).
3-5+ years experience in welding inspection with specialization in pressure piping/fabrication.
Prior experience within a CWB-certified shop (CSA W47.1 / W47.2/W59)
A-ticket welder with proven experience in pressure pipe welding within a manufacturing or construction environment.
Proven ability to run welds in compliance with code (ASME, CSA).
Working knowledge of ASME IX, ASME B31.1 / B31.3, CSA B51 (or equivalent).
Strong documentation and reporting skills (ITPs, weld maps, NCRs, data books).
NDE certifications (RT, UT, MT, PT) or experience coordinating NDE.
Familiarity with TSBC Class A pressure piping program requirements.
Experience in industrial / heavy construction environments (sawmills, pulp mills, mining, etc.).
Strong computer skills and ability to work within Excel, Adobe Acrobat or Blue Beam, Gmail, etc.
