A Pilates studio is coming soon to Corso Italia, Toronto, dedicated to making Reformer and mat classes inclusive, accessible, and confidence-building. Born from our founder's own struggle to find a welcoming fitness environment, we've created a muted-tone, tranquil "affordable-luxury" space where women (21-55) can grow their health, happiness, and community. With 3500sqft of open space located in the heart of Corso Italia, we will offer hot and regular Reformer, mat Pilates, yoga, and red-light classes. As we prepare to open this fall, we're searching for a co-founder who will lead instruction and share ownership.

Position Overview

As a

Pilates Instructor

, you will lead Reformer or mat Pilates classes (and/or yoga) that uphold our mission: to foster health, confidence, and happiness in a welcoming community. You will also support member engagement, assist with studio events, and help maintain our high standards of quality and inclusivity.

Key Responsibilities

Teach Classes



Deliver 15-20 weekly classes (Reformer or mat Pilates, and/or yoga) with clear, safe, and engaging instruction. Offer modifications for all levels--beginners through advanced--ensuring an inclusive experience. Monitor student progress, provide individualized feedback, and adapt as needed.

Curriculum Support & Development



Collaborate on class programming: suggest sequences, props, or workshop ideas. Help develop specialty sessions (e.g., "Core Strength & Flow," "Pilates + Red-Light Recovery," "Intro to Mindful Yoga"). Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Pilates and yoga methodologies; attend periodic in-studio training.

Member Engagement & Community Building



Greet and check in members before and after class; cultivate a supportive, welcoming atmosphere. Lead occasional open-house events or introductory sessions to attract new clients. Assist with social media posts: provide short class highlights, tips, or member success stories.

Studio Operations & Team Collaboration



Uphold studio cleanliness and equipment care (reformer machines, mats, props). Coordinate with management on scheduling, class cancellations, or special requests. Support periodic studio events (pop-ups with local partners, wellness workshops) as needed.

Qualifications



Certifications & Experience



Comprehensive Pilates certification (e.g., Balanced Body, STOTT, BASI, Polestar)

and/or

reputable yoga teaching certification. Minimum

2 years

teaching experience in Reformer or mat Pilates; yoga experience is a plus. Demonstrated ability to build and retain a positive client base; familiarity with teaching groups and one-on-one sessions.

Technical & Teaching Skills



Strong command of Pilates principles (breath, alignment, control) and/or yoga fundamentals (asanas, pranayama). Ability to cue clearly--both verbally and visually--and offer hands-on adjustments safely. Knowledge of hot-class protocols if teaching hot Reformer or hot yoga.

Personal Attributes



Passion for creating an inclusive, confidence-building fitness environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills--comfortable greeting members, explaining exercises, and offering feedback. Organized and punctual: able to prepare class plans, set up props/equipment, and manage class flow. Team-oriented: willing to collaborate with fellow instructors and studio staff.
