to support our physiotherapists in delivering mobility, strength, and restorative care services to seniors in a long-term care setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement physiotherapy treatment plans under the direction of a licensed physiotherapist.
Assist residents with mobility, transfer training, walking programs, and range-of-motion exercises.
Provide encouragement, reassurance, and emotional support to residents during therapy sessions.
Monitor residents' progress, note changes or concerns, and report observations promptly to the physiotherapist.
Set up, clean, and maintain therapy equipment, ensuring a safe environment for residents and staff.
Provide group exercise classes.
Maintain accurate records of resident participation, progress, and treatment adherence.
Qualifications:
Completion of a recognized Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) / Occupational Therapy Assistant program (or equivalent experience in elder care).
Previous work experience in a long-term care, rehabilitation, or geriatric setting strongly preferred.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
Physical ability to safely assist residents with mobility and transfers.
Knowledge of restorative care principles, dementia care, and safe handling techniques considered an asset.
