Your Opportunity:
This Physiotherapist position is a pediatric rehabilitation grant position and reports to the north corridors' Executive Director Allied Health & Volunteer Resources. The Physiotherapist works virtually and/or in person with OT, SW, Psychology, SLP and the Indigenous Wellness Coordinator as part of the multidisciplinary Complex Pediatric Rehab Support Team (PReST) to address the functional needs of children 0-18 years. The preferred candidate will have 5 years of pediatric experience with experience in the areas of Torticollis, Head Shape, neurological/coordination/developmental disorders and seating and positioning. The preferred candidate will have the ability to help plan and coordinate specialty pediatric PT services for the north corridors and be able to coach/mentor frontline staff in support of their local care plans as well as consult with and collaborate with other pediatric experts to build capacity in all of the north corridors. The Physiotherapist may be assigned direct clinical duties (in person) within their home community - note that home community is negotiable within the north, but PT services need to stay accessible to patients from all north corridors. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
Description:
As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Preferred Qualifications:

5 years of pediatric rehabilitation experience. Demonstrated experience in the clinical areas of Torticollis, Head Shape, motor and neurological development and coordination. Demonstrated experience with pediatric wheelchair, seating and positioning. AADL Authorizer. Demonstrated excellent communication skills. Demonstrated ability to lead, coordinate and plan services. Connect Care trained. Experience with virtual, clinical service delivery.
