Your Opportunity:
This posting is open to qualified physiotherapy and occupational therapy candidates. The Community Accessible Rehabilitation (CAR) program is an ambulatory rehabilitation program for clients with complex and/or chronic injuries and conditions. The successful candidate will work in the role of Clinical Leader (CL) for our MSK/UE Rehabilitation team, based out of the Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre. This team is specialized in the following clinical areas: hand therapy for clients who require post-surgical/post-fracture/post-injury rehabilitation, which includes assessment, client education, wound care, custom splinting, and exercise instruction with applicable protocols; rheumatology; lower extremity amputees, complex multi-trauma diagnoses. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to provide leadership to our collaborative team of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and therapy assistants. The CL will also support direct patient care. Approximately 60-70% of the role will be assigned to direct clinical care of clients. We are looking for an individual with formal leadership experience who has participated in leadership development education. This individual will contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives, as well as working collaboratively with the CAR leadership team to provide referral triage and support for the Central Access and Triage admin team. The caseload for all positions within CAR may be subject to change based on operational considerations. CAR is a multisite program, and this position may be required to provide CL support at other sites.
Description:
As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications:

A minimum of five (5) years of clinical practice experience. A minimum of 6 months previous leadership experience in a clinical leader role (or equivalent). Strong organizational skills. Strong interpersonal skills, including an ability to navigate sensitive situations. Demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Aptitude for performing in an environment of continuous change and learning. Experience implementing and leading program development and/or quality improvement initiatives. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency in the area(s) of amputee rehab, complex MSK, facial therapy, hands, and/or rheumatology. Demonstrated participation in healthcare leadership development courses within the last 3 years. Demonstrated leadership in interprofessional practice: role clarification, conflict resolution, team functioning, collaborative leadership, and person, family and community centred care. Recent experience (in past 5 years) working on an interdisciplinary team in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.
